Abstract

Computers hold hidden potentials that are extremely useful to many people with low vision.  Changing the size and color of text, varying background color, enlarging icons and cursors, modifying pointers, etc., just might make it possible for you to see things on the screen that normally are not clearly visible. There are keyboard tricks we will explore that even eliminate the need to see certain things on the screen at all.  And did you know that you can talk to your computer, and also make it read what is on your screen out loud?  Dr. Debby Gilden, senior scientist emerita from Smith-Kettlewell, will demonstrate many options for making the PC more accessible to people with low vision.

The Low Vision Support Group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 3 pm. The meetings are held at Smith-Kettlewell, which is located at 2318 Fillmore Street in San Francisco. There is no cost and everyone is welcome to attend.
